Akin Naphtal, CEO of Instinctwave Group and Group Publisher of Digital Economy, hailed the 10th Africa Digital Economy Awards (ADEA) as a landmark moment in Africa’s digital revolution, saying it’s an evidence to the continent’s “resilience and ambition in building a digital economy that empowers millions
Hosted at the elegant Emara Ole Sereni in Nairobi, the event brought together industry pioneers, government leaders, and international dignitaries to celebrate a decade of innovation shaping the continent’s digital landscape.
“This year’s ADEA is more than an awards ceremony; it’s a testament to Africa’s resilience and ambition in building a digital economy that empowers millions,” Naphtal said. “From fintech to e-government, we’re honouring the visionaries who are turning challenges into opportunities and driving inclusive growth across the continent.”
The event attracted high-profile figures, including Mary N. Kerema, Secretary ICT, E-Government at Kenya’s Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy; Dr. Fiona Asonga, CEO of TESPOK; and H.E. Sushil Prasad, Acting High Commissioner of India to Kenya. Their attendance underscored the critical role of collaboration between governments, private sectors, and international partners in advancing Africa’s digital agenda.
Naphtal emphasized the diversity of achievements recognized at the 2025 ADEA, from mobile money platforms revolutionizing financial inclusion to cutting-edge data centers enabling cloud-first strategies. Awards were presented across categories such as fintech, e-commerce, telecoms, cloud, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and e-government, each highlighting a unique contribution to Africa’s digital ecosystem.
“Ten years ago, we set out to celebrate innovation and leadership in Africa’s digital economy,” Naphtal reflected. “Today, we see the impact—organisations and individuals who have not only embraced technology but used it to solve real-world problems and create opportunities for communities across Africa.”
As the organiser of ADEA, Instinctwave Group continues to champion the recognition of digital excellence. Naphtal expressed pride in the event’s growth, noting that it has become a beacon for innovation, inspiring the next generation of African digital leaders.
The 10th ADEA concluded with a renewed call to action, urging stakeholders to deepen investments in digital infrastructure and foster policies that promote inclusivity. For Naphtal, the evening was a celebration of progress and a reminder of the work still ahead in building a truly connected and prosperous Africa.
